DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operates radiologic equipment to produce images for procedure guidance under the supervision of the physician.
- Takes precautions to minimize staff and patient exposure to radiation.
- Assists in radiology quality assurance and quality improvement activities.
- Effectively communicates with patients, family, and other healthcare team members.
- Sets up procedure rooms including equipment and supplies.
- Participates in performance improvement data collection.
- Follows all safety requirements of the facility per policy under the direction of the Governing Board.
- Practices radiation protection techniques using restrictive devices, patient shielding skills, and knowledge of applicable exposure factors to minimize radiation to patients and staff.
- Uses personal protective equipment including lead aprons as required.
- Properly operates, mobilizes, and positions equipment.
- Sets up and uses appropriate techniques and protocols as indicated.
- Responsible for the safe operation of radiologic equipment.
- Cleans equipment and stocks procedure rooms as needed.
- Troubleshoots equipment problems and advises supervisor of equipment malfunctions.
- Other duties as assigned.
